Posted by: on Mar 6, 2015 | No Comments

Tesla motors is a public Company, founded in 2003 by Elon Musk, Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning, JB Straubel and Ian Wright, headquartered in Palo Alto, California and USA. This Company manufactures and sells high performance and quality electric vehicles, electric sports cars and power train components. In starting stage, this company worked for the betterment of electric cars as compared to gasoline powered cars. The aim of this company is to provide their customers with vehicles having incredible power, instant torque, and zero emissions at very reasonable rate so that everyone can afford it. It trades on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the sign TSLA. Tesla Motors is capable of producing 1,000 cars a week. First vehicle designed by Tesla’s engineers called the Tesla Roadster accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and uses lithium-ion battery cells. Tesla sold more than 2,250 Roadsters across 31 countries.

In 2012, Tesla launched model S, the world’s first electric sedan having capacity for seven passengers, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in about five seconds, having outstanding road holding during driving at 265 miles per charge. Model S was awarded Motor Trend’s 2013 Car of the Year and attained 5 star safety ranking from U.S National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Later in 2014, Tesla’s engineers improved the handling and performance of Model S and accelerating in 0 to 60 mph in a time of 3.2 seconds rather than 5 seconds.

Now, Tesla is planning to introduce Model X having falcon wing doors and three rows of seating. Today, more than 50,000 Tesla vehicles are on the road worldwide. The interesting thing about the Tesla motors is that the owners can charge their vehicles at home without visiting to a gas station. This motor company also provides Supercharger network that connects popular routes in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific. Owners of Tesla motors can easily charge their motors freely from Superchargers network.

The company is growing its business in Tilburg, Netherlands and Lathrop. Tesla and its well renowned partner Panasonic busy in construction of a Giga factory in Nevada for the production of the Model 3. By 2020, this factory aimed to produce more lithium ion cells as compared to all the cells that are being produced today. This factory not only manufactures Model 3, but also produces battery packs for use in stationary storage. Tesla is not only limited to manufacturing vehicles, but it is also a design and technology company that also concentrates on energy innovations.  The Tesla Motor company is definitely reshaping the way cars are engineered with next generation features, style and technology. I think the future for Tesla Motors will continue to define the automobile industry for the next few years. With game changing features like “Autopilot” in the Tesla Model S line that allow the car to operate in a somewhat autonomous mode with functions like auto park:

Tesla Autopilot

“Autopilot combines a forward looking camera, radar, and 360 degree sonar sensors with real time traffic updates to automatically drive Model S on the open road and in dense stop and go traffic. Changing lanes becomes as simple as a tap of the turn signal. When you arrive at your destination, Model S will both detect a parking spot and automatically park itself. Standard equipment safety features are constantly monitoring stop signs, traffic signals and pedestrians, as well as for unintentional lane changes”.

Tesla Motors is positively on a quest of greatness and for us at TechGeniux it’s a  well welcome innovative change to the old ways of creating cars. With a visionary like Elon Musk at the head of Tesla Motors the vision Tesla is clearly looking toward the next generation automobiles.
