I think this book will really help open the discussion on abuse and the will of a person to continue to fight to overcome.

TechGeniux: Mrs. Tara Mitchell I really appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedule today to share with the TechGeniux community your new book called “Bent But Not Broken”. Is this your first book?
Mrs. Mitchell: Yes. It is my first book.

TechGeniux:  Can you give our readers a brief overview of the novel synopsis? Don’t give too much away, but just give our readers a taste of what to expect from the novel?
Mrs. Mitchell: What do you do when, you thought he loved you, now you are 18, pregnant, and feel alone because he loved someone else. When your dreams of being a successful career woman and a wife seems impossible, what do you do? What do you do when you finally marry someone and now you are battling domestic violence and child abuse? How do you break the cycle?

TechGeniux: How long did it take to write the novel?
Mrs. Mitchell: It took approximately 6 months to write.

TechGeniux: 6 months, nice.

TechGeniux:  Can you share with us your background and where the inspiration originated to write the novel?
Mrs. Mitchell: My inspiration for writing this book originated from my involvement with victims of domestic abuse that would come in the domestic violence agency I worked at after being a client myself.

TechGeniux: The subject matter of the novel seems to be about a woman struggling to overcome some truly heart breaking events in her life. The novel’s subject matter feels like a Hollywood movie waiting on a screenplay. What was the most challenging aspect of writing this novel? Is the book based on someone you know or just a story you felt had to be told on a larger scale?

Mrs. Mitchell: Absolutely. Bent But Not Broken is based off actual characters that I know. I have been in contact with many women that have been abused by the men or women they love and trusted. The staff at the DV agency are trained to assist with sexual assault victims as well. Anna’s character is one woman but she represents many.

TechGeniux:  I ordered my copy when I seen your post in my Facebook feed. What methods are you using to promote the book beyond Facebook?
Mrs. Mitchell: I am currently setting up book signings in the area, however, I would like to expand my audience nationwide. I also have someone working on a website for the book.

TechGeniux: Wow! A book signing is a great way to get traction! Short story, My first publication around 2000. I self promoted my book, did the marketing, did my first press release, got the local paper to cover me and did a book signing at Books-A-Million. My book sold out a few times and the crowd was great at the signing! I think you have the right idea to promote the book to get the word out!

TechGeniux:  Self publishing a novel is hard but with all the tools via Amazon, social networking and low cost advertisement ads, it’s possible to have a successful product launch. Do you think it’s challenging to get the novel in front of the audience you want to read it?

Mrs. Mitchell: I think it is very possible to reach the audience I want to read it. If one woman reads this book that is going through any type of abuse and it encourages her to leave that environment, my work will not be in vain. I want to raise awareness and possible save lives.

TechGeniux:  When is the novel available for order? Where can potential customers order a copy of the novel?
Mrs. Mitchell: The book is available now at Amazon.com in paperback and Kindle. When I searched for other books with this title, there was only one. Now there are several. Make sure the author is Tara Mitchell.
