Star Wars: The Force Awakens-5 Major Questions From The New Trailer!

Posted by: on Apr 20, 2015 | No Comments

Last week was truly an amazing week for movie geeks and nerds like me. We saw the release of the two blockbuster movie trailers. We saw the second teaser for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer and the undervalued Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice teaser trailer. This article will spotlight only the Star Wars trailer today with five major questions everyone had after watching the trailer. This second Star Wars trailer had more eye candy oppose to the first trailer we seen a few months ago. The nostalgic feel and the return of a few old characters really made this trailer awesome to watch. The second Star Wars trailer was release during the official Star Wars Celebration held in Anaheim, California, at the Anaheim Convention Center on April 16 to April 19, 2015. Reports speculated that over 150K fans attended the Celebration expo and some of the cast came out to help celebrate Star Wars.  The Star Wars: The Force Awakens second teaser has already racked up over 35 million views on YouTube. The trailer has sparked debate and excitement over the last few days.

Here are the five major questions from the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser 2 trailer. Drum roll…..

5. Who dug up Vader’s Mask and why? When I saw the Darth Vader mask appear on screen in the first part of the trailer my mind immediately started wondering with intrigue. Who was looking at Vader’s burned mask. Is Darth Vader returning from the dead? I must admit this is great storytelling and writing. This visual was a great way to connect the old trilogy with the new Star Wars first film. The image is truly creepy and is accompanied by Vader’s classic breathing sound effect but the question still remains, who in the heck is examining the helmet and for what bloody purpose? Where did they retrieve Vader’s helmet from and why?

4. What made Finn leave the Stormtrooper squad? Finn is a new character played by British actor John Boyega. I haven’t seen any of his current film work but the buzz on line is that the guy can act. The film I hear everyone on the internet praising highly is his acting in Joe Cornish’s alien vs hood-comedy “Attack the Block”. There was a bit of a panic attack from the internet when some people had questions about if an African American being placed in a lead role in Star Wars was good for business. Once the panic shock was over things went back to normal with fans wondering why Finn was wearing Stormtrooper gear and why was the new “Empire” trying to kill/capture him based on the scenes in the trailer. This trailer had him toss his Stormtrooper gear  for some more Imperial-free gear as the trailer progress. We can only guess why he deserted and why he has a price on his head as we see him partnered with Daisy Ridley’s Rey character.

3. What’s going on with Luke Skywalker? When the narrative for the new trailer starts we can clearly hear the voice of Luke Skywalker. In the speech he’s telling “Someone” about their family ties and possible connection to the Force. This speech was lifted from Return of the Jedi but the narrative has been changed some for this part of the  trailer. In my opinion I don’t think this dialogue will be in the new movie per say but the idea of what he’s saying will play a big part in the movie plot. Was it him passing a lightsaber to a new Jedi? Where is Luke? What has he being doing all this time? Has he gone the route of mentor like Ben Kenobi? I even heard rumors of him turning rogue for this trilogy? I don’t know how I feel about him going rogue since Luke Skywalker is my favorite character from the original trilogy. Who will Luke pass the mantle of Jedi to, Finn? Rey? Or Poe?I don’t have a freaking clue!

2. Who is the new evil Sith and what’s his story? Cross guard lightsaber. When the first Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser dropped last year people were going crazy about the new villain with the cross guard lightsaber. I did find it weird to a certain degree but went along for the ride until I see the actual movie. In the new teaser we get a few more clips of the character dubbed Kylo Ren. We also get a few seconds of him heralding the lightsaber in a fight.  I can’t confirm if this is the same guy we saw hunched back walking in the forest in the first trailer with his lightsaber ignited but I will admit I really like the new design with cloak and mask. It’s still not clear what actor is playing this new “Sith” or bad guy.  Some reports say it’s Adam Driver but without more information it’s hard to tell from the scenes in the trailer. My money is on Adam Driver as Kylo Ren. Nevertheless, the mystery continues, what is his role in the film? Is he solo? Does he work with the new “Empire”? Was he the guy who dug up Vader’s creepy burned mask? If so, why? Where did he come from and who trained him? What does his voice sound like in the film? I just hope this guy doesn’t get the Darth Maul treatment especially if he has an awesome story and great character development.

1. Who is in charge of the new Empire? When we last left our heroes at the end of Return of the Jedi peace was restored with the death of both Darth Vader and Palpatine and the fall of the Empire. We can easily conclude that a war on the scale of the Galactic Empire verse the Rebel Alliance was far from over with the fighting scattered all throughout the galaxy. We learned during the Star Wars Celebration that the Empire is now known as the “First Order” and the Rebels are going by the “Resistance”. So it seems the conflict continues even after thirty years. The new Star Wars film take place thirty years after Jedi. What part does Han Solo play in this new saga? Where the heck is Leia and what is is her position now? How does Daisy Ridley’s Rey character fit into this new war? What is the story for the new X-Wing pilot Poe? What the heck is up with the First Order red symbol? What’s the deal with the Chrome Stormtrooper bounty hunter? I really think J.J. Abrams did a great job with this first film of the new trilogy. It really has that Star Wars feel unlike the prequels. I know I’m jumping the gun but I think think the Star Wars: The Force Awakens will restore some of the shine the prequels took from the series. The film stars, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow, with Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.

The Force Awakens is scheduled for release on December 18, 2015 in US. Can’t wait! If you have more insight or just like to share how you feel about the new Star Wars trailer drop us a comment below!
