TechGeniux Ex Machina Review

Posted by: on May 10, 2015 | No Comments

This weekend I  had a chance to take in Ex Machina. I thoroughly enjoyed the film. I’m a hardcore geek when it comes to artificial intelligence. Ex Machina is a 2015 British science fiction thriller film written and directed by author and screenwriter Alex Garland. The film stars Domhnall Gleeson, Alicia Vikander and Oscar Isaac. The film is about Caleb (Domhnall Gleeson) a nerdy computer programmer who won a chance to meet the CEO of Bluebook a popular search engine company. Bluebook is the company Caleb is employed. He has won the opportunity to meet the company CEO of Bluebook named Nathan portrayed by the amazing Oscar Isaac but things are not what Caleb suspect once he meets Nathan. Without giving away any spoilers, Nathan wants Caleb to spend a week performing the “Turing Test” on the  supposedly first artificial intelligent robot named “AVA” portrayed by Alicia Vikander. I won’t go into details but this film had me hooked from the very scene with Nathan and Caleb. The logic and conversation between the actors were music to this geek ears. I personally enjoy intelligent scripts, especially when it deals with artificial intelligence in plausible way. The script was strong and the special effects were fantastic for a film on an indie budget. The film did a estimated $3.5 million this weekend at the box office. I was beyond excited when I logged online to see Ex Machina playing in my area. So yes, I  almost fell out my chair when I seen my local theater. I give Ex Machina 5 harddrives for being extremely awesome in story, effects and great acting.
