EnGeniux to write the future with AyR

AyR6

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Derrick Samuels this week. He said he wanted to give me some more information about a project he was working on. I was expecting more on OTON, but what I heard was one of the most ambitious projects I never heard of. He introduced me into OTON AyR, and I was blown away. This was something I had only seen in science fiction movies.

The AyR will be a device that goes with you everywhere for gaming, photos, and videos. Eventually, the system will have the ability to hover and be guided by the included wristband and to follow you at a safe distance using a proximity sensor. AyR is equipped with two cameras, front and rear, to record the environment around you and can use the projector to display images on the included glasses lens. I was assured that these glasses will have a small footprint and resemble a normal pair of sunglasses, thanks to all the heavy work being performed by the compact AyR unit itself, and simply streaming data to the glasses.

AyR will offer its user a variety of functions ranging from videoconferencing for using the AyR as a whiteboard to seeing what’s just around the corner. The most interesting aspect to me was the gaming application. The AyR will be able to turn any location you’re in the turn it into a game. Using the glasses, it will alter the environment as needed, provided a HUD, and add virtual NPCs to the display. With the AyR your office party just got much cooler. Beyond the gaming applications, practically anything will be possible with AyR: Listening to music, watching a movie (using the projector or the glasses, depending on your location), giving a big report at the office, recording a home movie… all will be done on the go and on a large scale. This is the next logical step for the cell phone: a device that you not only use on the road but also at home. No more syncing information or worrying whether you’ve forgotten something – now your content is with you, all the time.

Plus, its cloud based. Thanks to the cloud, you can take your entire movie collection with you, wherever you go. Now you no longer have to watch movies on the smallest screens available; you can watch it on a full HD projector that will be with you, again, wherever you go. Because of its small form factor, you will probably forget it’s there. With just a watch and shades as your input devices, you never have to slow down. I wanted to play with OTON, but I can use AyR!

The system will have to go though some tweaks first of course. The hover capability, wristband, and glasses are not expected until sometime in 2016 and the first developmental units due out next year will still be small and EnGeniux has set some high goals, and there will be challenges along the way. Having the three devices function as a cohesive unit while running user apps will be taxing to hardware small enough for the planned footprint. The hover capability will be the hardest obstacle to overcome. A flight system will need to be created that will enable the unit to move in the full 360-degree spectrum as well a power system that can keep it aloft for an entire session based on Mr. Samuels one hour initial hover goals.

Despite all the hurdles, EnGeniux has a history of delivering solid, reliable systems by taking the time it needs to develop its systems, working with testers and industry professionals to deliver a system that does what it is supposed to do. I can’t wait to use AyR and see firsthand how it works.

k7gjeD I’m curious to find out what blog system you are using? I’m experiencing some small security problems with my latest site and I’d like to find something more safeguarded. Do you have any suggestions?
