Meet The New C.H.I.P. Computer For $9!!!

A great friend sent me a cool tip for a really awesome new Kickstarter project today. Imagine if you could own an amazing new computer for $9 bucks! Insane I know, but you can do all this cool stuff with the new C.H.I.P. computer. The Next Thing Co. Kickstarter video does a quick demo on how tiny and simply the C.H.I.P. hardware is to use. C.H.I.P. has several neat little features such as work in LibreOffice and save your documents to C.H.I.P.’s onboard storage. Surf the web and check your email over WiFi. Play games with a Bluetooth controller. The makers of C.H.I.P state comes with dozens of applications and tools preinstalled. I can think of a few cool projects I always wanted to create but lacked the necessary low-cost yet high quality board to develop my projects. The C.H.I.P can support gaming and teach you to code. All that for $9 bucks!

The C.H.I.P. Team has designed the hardware for students, teachers, grandparents, children, artists, makers, hackers, and inventors. The C.H.I.P. has equally impressive specs for a $9 PC. The system has a 1 GHz processor, 512 MB, 4GB storage, with support for Wifi 802.11B/G/N and Bluetooth 4.0. The C.H.I.P board is compatible with a VGA and HDMI connection for use on new or old screens. The C.H.I.P appear to be  more powerful than the Raspberry Pi computer.


C.H.I.P is also portable with the PocketC.H.I.P. The PocketC.H.I.P. gives C.H.I.P. a 4.3” touchscreen, QWERTY keyboard, and 5-hour battery – in a case small enough to fit in your back pocket. The project was initially seeking $50K to get the project off the ground to purchase volume parts to get the hardware down to $9 bucks! The project has successfully smashed the $50K goal and has now taken in $380,631 as of this writing with 7,876 backers. The C.H.I.P Team can add my $9 to the C.H.I.P cash pile.
