During the week of April 24-26, 2015 seen the Furious 7 took in a collective total of $18,259,000 this weekend in the US to grab the top spot at the box office. With a total US tally of $320,536,000 and worldwide gross total of $1,321,536,000. I’m sure these figures gave Universal Pictures the go ahead to greenlight the Fast and Furious 8 for April 14, 2017. Grabbing the second place at the box office was the Kevin James lead sequel Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 with $15,500,000. Third spot winner for the US box office went to The Age of Adaline. Adaline (Blake Lively) is an attractive young woman who suffers an accident that changes her life forever. She has remained 29 years old for nearly 8 decades. With an interesting story plot The Age of Adaline took in $13,375,000 this weekend.

The new DreamWorks Animation film Home took in a respective $8,300,000 with a worldwide total of $299,084,000. The Home film is powered by the fan favorite Jim Parson from the Big Bang Theory television show with Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez rounding out the star studded cast. The new horror film Unfriended took in $6,244,000 to take the number five spot with the artificial intelligent sci-fi thriller film Ex Machina locking in the sixth spot with $5,441,000. I do hope Ex Machina obtain a wider release. Ex Machina opened to a limited release in the U.s. but with the success of the film it does appear to capture more screens around the nation. I can’t wait to see EX Machina. The  last films to round off the box office top 10 list is The Longest Ride (7) taking in $4,365,000, Get Hard (8) $3,905,000, Monkey Kingdom (9) $3,551,000 and Woman in Gold (10) taking in $3,501,000. You can expect the US box office to explode next week with the release of the Avengers 2: The Age of Ultron hitting US theaters nationwide May 1, 2015. The Avengers 2 has already taken in $201,200,000 with debut in 44 international markets.
