Today a Boston-based start-up called Lineage Labs is launching today with $4 million in seed funding. The new start-up is introducing  new hardware product called “Bevy”. The Bevy idea is an interesting service that will offer families both local and private storage and online backup.

A statement from the company website:

Imagine an endless photo album for your family that all of you can effortlessly contribute to and enjoy. Yeah, Bevy’s kinda like that! All your family photos and videos are collected and organized in one place, safe on Bevy in your home, and protected with secure backup in the cloud if you like. And you have access to it all, from anywhere, through your Bevy mobile app.

The combination of hardware and app to capture family moments is something I think if Lineage Labs can delivery could be a huge win for the company. With the Bevy device families can collect and organize content directly into the system. Other nice features include, pulling photos from your mobile device or from your home computer with ease. From a security standpoint, your photos are secure and protected off-site or protected in your home if the cloud isn’t something you trust to keep your family photos. The Bevy system will not only support your photos but video backup and storage is possible with the device and app. The Lineage Labs Bevy device and platform is something definitely to keep your eyes on in 2015.The Bevy backup hardware is available for pre-order for $249 at the company website with a $50 deposit to reserve your unit.
