Amazon To Ban Sale of Apple TV And Google Chromecast Devices! Yikes!

Posted by: on Oct 2, 2015 | No Comments

Amazon.com sent an email to sellers stating that Apple TV and Chromecast products are banned and all listings will be removed. The bad news came to all amazon sellers via email. Amazon the one of the world’s largest online web store sent a an e-mail to its marketplace sellers that it will stop selling the Apple TV and Google Chromecast since these devices don’t “support” with the Prime Video. The company said all listed will be removed by Oct. 29. Yikes. Talk about competition. The good news, the Roku player, Xbox and Playstation are safe for now because these devices play nice with the Prime Video.

This is really a bold move by Amazon as the holiday shopping season is a few weeks away. I guess Amazon doesn’t need the sales from the Apple TV or Google Chromecast devices to have a winning holiday revenues. This is definitely a bold move and I’m sure the Apple and Google execs will not forget such a bold move by one of the biggest online stores. This move will truly hurt Google more than Apple since Apple has its own stores and direct access to customers. The Apple brand is still strong. Google on the other hand may suffer from this highly competitive move by Amazon since Google doesn’t have the same brand or store like Apple. It’s obvious that Amazon has the power to make such a bold move with its ever reaching and growing online strength. Let’s see how this play out over the holidays.
