YoYo Games Acquired by PlayTech for $16.4 million

YoYo Games a developer of the GameMaker software has been acquired by PlayTech an online casino and gambling specialist for $16.4 million with a possible additional $5.25 million paid out. Playtech was founded in 1999 by Teddy Sagi. The company was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2006. PlayTech has acquired several gambling and casino companies over the last few years.

The acquisition of YoYo games today will enable the company to diversify its business portfolio and have a strong position in the growing segment of the gaming market. The YoYo GameMaker: Studio software was created by Mark Overmars in 2007 which was followed by a partnership a company based in Dundee, Scotland called YoYo Games. The YoYo platform has grown over the last few years with its freemium tool having 750,000 registered users and options for developers to purchase additional game assets.
